to Board of Directors
Raborn brings extensive financial management experience to the board
Germantown, Md. -- September 19, 2005 -- Proxy Aviation Systems,
Inc., a company dedicated to developing fully autonomous, optionally piloted
unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), announced the appointment of Francis
“Buzz” Raborn to the company’s board of directors. Raborn was formerly
the Chief Financial Officer of United Defense Industries (UDI). UDI is
now part of BAE Systems, a leader in the design, development and production
of combat vehicles, artillery, naval guns, missile launchers and precision
munitions used by the U.S. Department of Defense and allies worldwide.
Raborn brings extensive financial management experience within the defense
industry from his more than 20 years with United Defense Industries as
its Chief Financial Officer. Previously, Raborn held financial positions
with FMC Corporation and Ford Motor Company. A member of Financial Executives
International and the Institute of Management Accountants, Raborn also
participates in various aerospace and defense industry associations. Prior
to starting his business career, Raborn was a pilot in the United States
Air Force.
“Proxy Aviation is closing a vital gap within the unmanned aviation industry
by creating a unique, network-centric, unmanned aircraft system. This
proprietary architecture not only raises the bar in UAS capabilities,
but it also expands the possibilities for multi-point battlefield communications,”
said Raborn. “I am very honored to become part of such an exciting company.”
Proxy Aviation’s Chief Executive Officer, Don Ryan, said, “We are pleased
to have Buzz joining our board of directors. He brings a valuable combination
of senior executive leadership and extensive knowledge of defense industry
finance that will contribute to the continued success of our company.”
Proxy Aviation is led by a team of executives with more than 100 years
combined experience in aircraft and unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) development
and manufacturing, supported by extensive experience in systems integration
and combat operation. The company’s mission is to close a gap in unmanned
aviation capability by providing a system that successfully executes both
low-end strategic and high-end tactical surveillance missions, requiring
fewer personnel and resources than established systems.
